Sourcing what you need locally

Mexxi’s owner Enrique Gomez has long sourced his ingredients locally. He trusts the quality. See how he came to realize a local business bank could offer up something similarly appealing.

Keeping it all in the family

Mexxi’s Restaurant and Catering is a vibrant staple in San Ramon. Maybe that’s because hospitality is in Enrique Gomez’s blood. He grew up underfoot at the restaurants his family owns on the Peninsula. His experiences there inspired him to go to culinary school.

Since 1996, owner Enrique has been serving up fresh and authentic Mexican food in the same spot on Alcosta Boulevard. First opened with his cousin, now Enrique and his brother own and operate Mexxi’s restaurant and catering company.

While he loves classic recipes, Enrique enjoys creating dishes uncommon in Mexican restaurants. Might we suggest the Filete de Pescado a la Veracruzana, a seafood dish that was created with Lent in mind? Almost every item on the menu has a cult following including the fish tacos, grilled chicken burritos, and the tamales.

He proudly sources many ingredients locally, providing fresh ingredients to make his food full of flavor. The team prepares everything from scratch because they truly care about the food they serve and the people eating it.

Feeding the community

Being a part of the community is very important to Enrique, and he wants everyone to feel like family when they dine with him. And, yes, that includes parties and work events. Large corporate and private events are more delicious when Mexxi’s is catering.

When it came time to consider a business bank, Enrique wanted that family feel he knows makes his restaurant unique. That’s why he brought his business accounts to Fremont Bank over a decade ago.

A local branch manager was a patron of the restaurant. During a meal, he casually asked Enrique who he was banking with. It was a great question. Just like he sources his ingredients, Enrique decided to not only shop locally, but bank locally too. And the results? Like his food: outstanding. “The service we get from [Fremont Bank] is awesome. It's like having a personal banker.”

After switching, he asked himself, "why didn’t I do this before?” We’re thrilled it’s a decision he hasn’t regretted.

Another location, same great food (and vibes)

Mexxi’s plans on opening in another location in a nearby city to bring their signature authentic, fresh Mexican food to more people, which sounds like a delicious idea to us.

As their business banking partner, we look forward to helping them achieve the dream, one tasty dish at a time.
