We’re all about relationships as a family-owned community bank, and our relationship managers are essential in making sure our clients see the magic of relationships in their daily and ongoing interactions with us. Senior Relationship Manager Eric Ng is one of our magic makers, who puts his clients’ needs first and digs deep to find solutions for their financial needs. Learn more about Eric in this month’s “Associate Spotlight.”
How long have you worked at Fremont Bank, and what’s your role? What does your day-to-day look like?
I’ve been with Fremont Bank for seven years. I am the senior relationship manager focusing on SBA loan origination. My day-to-day consists mostly of interacting with clients, other Fremont Bank associates, Fremont Bank operation personnel, vendors, brokers/agents, COIs, and escrow/title officers. A smaller part of my role involves meeting new people, doing presentations, and speaking publicly.
What do you enjoy the most about your job? What excites you about your job when you start your day?
The most enjoyable part of my job is helping to fulfill someone’s dream and empowering them to succeed. The exciting part of my job is the uniqueness of each deal. I can get bored by monotony easily, but I don’t have that feeling at all in my current role, even though I have been in the same role for seven years.
What’s your greatest strength as a business professional?
My greatest strength is empathy. I can always walk in someone’s shoes. I try to understand the “why” and work out a compromise.
If you could snap your fingers and end a world problem, what would you choose?
Obesity — losing weight is too hard for a person (like me) who loves to eat!
Do you have any favorite past or present hobbies when not at work?
I love playing volleyball. However, I had to give up playing after I dislocated my shoulder. I am so glad that my 12 year-old daughter picked up that sport and did well with it. I got plenty of chances to go watch her play.
